Topic: Inside and Out: Post-impressionism and the Modern City
Speaker: Dickon HALL
Looking at the use and meaning of the interior in post-impressionist art in France and how the relationship between art, modern life and urbanisation is explored in changes between the spaces depicted by impressionist and post-impressionist painters. A wide range of artists will be discussed, including Edouard Vuillard, Georges Seurat and Maurice Denis.

Remember no experience or partner needed. The Bal is a time to practise your moves and guidance will be given at the start of each dance.

Nuit de la lecture 

Following on from last year’s success, the Cercle français de Belfast is delighted to once again be taking part in the Nuit de la lecture, an annual worldwide celebration of French language and literature organised by the French Ministry for Culture.  
Come and join us for a relaxed and informal afternoon of games, reading and discussion about French language and literature. The event is open to anyone who loves the French language, from beginner to advanced learners of French, as well as native speakers.
  • Sunday 19 January 2019, 3pm-6pm
  • Book Bar in the Accidental Theatre, 12-13 Shaftesbury Square, Belfast, BT2 7DB
  • Free entry (if possible, please bring along a book to swap). You also have the option to make a voluntary donation of £2 when you book.
