The next meeting of the Cercle Français de Belfast will be in person on 14 décembre 2022 à 19h.30 in the Dark Horse Coffee House, 30-34, Hill Street Belfast BT1 2LB.

Topic: Little Dancer Aged Fourteen

Inspired by the book by Camille LAURENS and the sculpture by Edgar DEGAS this event aims to explore the life of a petit rat at the Paris Opéra. Our late friend Jim HOLLAND had been looking forward to participating and we dedicate this event to him.

Ciné-cercle tries something different

The next meeting of the Cercle français de Belfast will take place on ….

… mercredi 16 novembre 2022 à 19h30 and will be online as a Zoom meeting

Some may already be aware of the services provided online by TV5MONDE but many are not. By way of introduction to the website this event will take a look at the library of French video material available on the channel. The variety is wide .. films, documentaries, TV series, comedy and shorts the majority of which are subtitled in a number of languages including French and English.

You can access the library by clicking on the following link …

To get started you might like to take a look at one of our three suggestions. Two of them are 'long' (90mins approx) and one is 'short' (20mins approx).

On the other hand you may discover a gem of your own and like to share it with us at the meeting on the 19th .

The idea is that on the evening we will come together to share our experience of using the website, any difficulties we may have had in doing so and our thoughts on the programmes we have viewed.

The Zoom link will be sent to members on the morning of the event.

Looking forward to seeing you on 16th November.

À bientôt, Philip

Tristes nouvelles : Ray LARGAN

We are very sad to inform you of the death, at home, of our friend and colleague Ray LARGAN.

A Founding member of the Alliance Française de Belfast, Ray was for many years Treasurer and Vice-President of the Cercle and was much appreciated by us all for his wisdom and his kindness. We have lost a man much loved by those who knew him.

Our thoughts are with his nearest and dearest, Anne and Paul.  We offer them our sincere condolences.

You can find details of Ray's funeral arrangements if you click on this link.

Below is a picture of Ray with his wife Catherine at one of the many annual dinners that he so ably organised. Catherine, long time secretary of the Cercle passed away in 2014. We will miss their caravanning stories of travels around France.
