Happy New Year on behalf of our Présidente, Patricia, and all of us in the CfB committee.
The next meeting of the Cercle Français de Belfast will be on 11 janvier à 19h.30 in the Dark Horse Coffee House, 30-34, Hill Street Belfast BT1 2LB
We are setting off on our new membership year with our Fête des Rois on 11 January and look forward to seeing as many members as possible at the event.
This year's occasion has changed from previous years as the new furniture in the Dark Horse is less amenable to making room for dancing. Our focus this time therefore is on chatting and meeting up in person. Also, instead of the Galette des Rois we'll be nibbling on macarons and another French pastry - madeleines.
Regarding the latter, we'll be featuring a segment called "madeleines moments" accompanied by a short reading from Marcel Proust in French and in English. Next, Claudine will present some of the traditions associated with this time of year and which are still widely honoured in France.
Over to you? Do you have a "party piece" that you would be willing to share with members? Please let us know. We would also like you to tell us what it is you love about France and perhaps share an experience, knowledge or a memory. You can do this in person or, if you cannot be there, by sending us your contribution in no more than 100 words. We'll print and share them.
There will be other activities, including a look forward to coming events in and beyond our programme so it's well worth renewing your subscription. Membership secretary, Jonathan and other committee members will be available to help you do just that.
