IMPORTANT NOTICE Meeting on Wednesday 14th December POSTPONED

Meeting on Wednesday 14th December POSTPONED

Dear colleagues,

Several members have been in touch to say that the spell of poor weather and illness will prevent them from attending our Wednesday evening event, Little Dancer Aged Fourteen. As the talk was also a tribute to our late friend Jim Holland, who had been intending to take part, we have decided to postpone until early in 2023. We hope that the rescheduling will make it possible for as many members as possible to attend. We have also decided to supplement the talk with a Zoom recording so that those unable to attend, and those from further afield, can participate remotely.

May we take this opportunity to wish you all a peaceful Christmas. Joyeux Noël.

Secrets of upcoming Cercle programme

Can you keep a secret?

The Cercle's upcoming programme will be revealed shortly and it contains a couple of secrets.

It includes another Promenade en Blanc at a location that is only revealed a week or so before the event.
Last time our walk took us along the Maritime Mile in Belfast and we stopped for refreshments in front of the French-flagged SS Nomadic.  Next time?  That would be telling!

But we can tell you that our programme features another cercle de lecture and the book we will be discussing is Philippe Grimbert's Un Secret. It's available in French and English and has also been produced as a film. The book discussion is scheduled for early 2023 so plenty of time to check it out.

It's a busy schedule of core events and some surprise extra ones so when you get the programme, please don't keep it a secret:

Pass it on!

Promenade en blanc !

 Chers amis, flâneuses et flâneurs

We are back face to face and side by side for our first ever Promenade en blanc this Saturday!

When we announced this event we said we would keep its location a mystery until close to the date and we can now reveal that we will be walking a section of Belfast's Maritime Mile. Here's a link for more information: https://maritime-mile.com/

We'll meet up at 11am on Saturday 21 May at the Big Fish near Corporation Square; cross the Lagan Footbridge and make our way to the berth of the SS Nomadic. We will pause there to enable participants to get refreshments nearby and chat about what we've been up to since we last met in person.

Then retracing our footsteps across the footbridge we can check out the dockside photo exhibition, Wilder Mann, by French photographer Charles Fréger before concluding our walk back at the Big Fish at around 12.45pm.

In keeping with the tradition of the Pique-nique en blanc, please try if you can to wear something white and, as this is Belfast, remember to rainproof your walk.

Coming? Well we look forward to seeing you at 11am at the Big Fish!
